The main objective during this period is to keep the young animals preventing death from infectious diseases, digestive unset, to grow large animals with fine-quality indumentum.

The young are separated in a whole litter or in parts. Large animals are to be separated and weaker ones are left with the female for several days.

During the first days of separation, the feeding mixture is not to be too stiff to facilitate eating and prevent dragging around the cage.

In the second half of August, young animals of all fur bearers species are divided into breeding (replacement) and commercial. The replacement young animals are to follow the diets of the breeding animals.

Reduction of diet in the commercial young animals earlier than 2 weeks before killing leads to decrease of condition factor of the animals and to reduction of skin sizes. However, overfeeding with feed rich in fat in October–November causes extensive growth of guard hair which leads to decreasing quality of skin.

Possible issues

  • Retarded growth of animals.

  • High morbidity after separation.

  • Low survivability of the young animals.

  • Low quality of skin.

Solution in feeding optimisation

  • GUMINOBIOTIC is a powerful immunomodulator agent based on humin acids. It contributes to the decrease in the number of diseases and promotes resistance of the body through increased production of endogenous interferon.  It partly replaces antibiotics. To be applied at a dose of 0.5 to 1 kg of live weight with feed or water.

  • FEKORD-2004-S is an enzyme complex. It is used for activation of starch breakdown, increase of energy nutrition and promotion of feed digestion. Contributes to fiber digestibility. To be used with complete food at a dose of 1 kg per ton with the use f plant feed.

  • FITAZIM-S is a thermally stable phytase for increasing the use of phosphorus, calcium and other feed nutrients. To be used with complete food at a dose of 1 kg per ton.

Results of feeding programme application:

  • Increase in the young cattle survivability by 6.8%.

  • Decrease in morbidity by 18%.

  • Increase in non-specific resistance of the body in terms of bactericidal activity of blood serum by 38.3%, lysozyme activity by 36.7%.

  • Increase in fertility by 6% and yield per female by 7.4%.

  • Increase in milking capacity of the females (average live weight of puppies at the age of 20 days more by 7%).

  • Live weight gain in the commercial young cattle higher by 4%.

  • Increase in the average area of skin by 3.7%.

  • Increase in quality set-off by 9.5%.
